Reading boss Brian McDermott likes Danny Graham and is hoping for Tom Rogic deal

Danny Graham: Linked with Reading and Brian McDermott is a fan

Graham is seeking showdown talks with Swansea over his future as he has not been playing regularly in the Premier League this season, and both Reading and Norwich City are understood to be tracking his situation.

McDermott has been aware of Graham's abilities for some time and has been impressed by the way he has progressed over the years.

"He's Swansea's player and I think there is a bit of interest in him. He's scored a couple of goals lately in the league," McDermott said in The Times.

"I've known Danny since he was at Carlisle. He's another who has developed over time."

Another player on McDermott's radar is playmaker Rogic, with Central Coast Mariners revealing earlier this week that discussions between the clubs were going well.

McDermott was interested in the 20-year-old last year, but is hoping to overcome work permit problems this time around.

"It's not done yet, far from it. We have to speak to Tom and we will see. If we agree, then we have to get a work permit," he explained.

"We felt he was a good prospect a year ago and it's the same now. He was here for two or three weeks this time last year and we got turned down on a work permit. If it goes that far again, then hopefully we can get him in.

"There's good video coverage of him now and people at an appeal would be able to see that. Has hasn't actually been playing football for that long. It's a bit like Shane Long, he didn't play until he was 14 and had been playing Gaelic football and hurling."
